Summer STEM opportunity for rising middle schoolers in Fremont/Bay Area

  • A journal club is a group that regularly meets to critically discuss scientific literature, similar to a book club. They are commonly found in colleges, and are a low-pressure environment to explore scientific interests.

  • If you are a rising 6th, 7th, or 8th grader in the Bay Area interested in STEM or research, this journal club is an opportunity for you to begin exploring your scientific interest alongside experienced high school mentors by reading and analyzing scientific literature in discussion groups of varying topics, interactive workshops to develop skills and how to get started with research, and meeting like minded peers this summer.

  • This is NOT a course, and there are no grades, tests, or homework. Instead, you'll participate in guided discussions and practice interpreting real research in a supportive environment.

  • Please fill out the form at tinyurl.com/ysjc2025 by Saturday, June 7th to sign up, and you will be contacted in early June with more information.
